Nel 1907 si recò negli Stati Uniti insieme a molti altri emigranti, senza conoscere la lingua e con pochi soldi in tasca. In Italia faceva il modello per le statue e non ebbe grandi problemi a diventare venditore ambulante delle statue che uno scultore italiano produceva nel suo magazzino al Bowery. Per tre anni percorse le strade vendendo statue. A casa si consolava cantando le canzoni italiane e presto divenne una celebrità locale venendo ingaggiato per le feste di nozze ed altre funzioni nel East Side italiano.  Tentò un audizione presso un agenzia teatrale che non lo prese in considerazione. Finalmente venne scoperto da un cantante di club che lo portò da un manager di un modesto teatro di Vaudeville in Christy Street che lo ammise alla serata dei dilettanti davanti ad un auditorio che sapeva essere tanto ostile quanto amichevole. Cantò e il pubblico fu entusiasta. Il manager lo scritturò subito. Pochi giorni un famoso manager di Vaudeville si bloccò davanti ad un teatro dove Nesi stava cantando. Impressionato dalla bellezza della voce il manager lo volle immediatamente scritturare per il suo circuito. Rientra in Italia dove studia con il Colli e debutta nel 1915 al Verdi di Bologna in Faust. Nel 1917, conclusi gli impegni in Sudamerica, rientra negli Stati Uniti dove riprende la carriera nel Vaudeville. Dopo un momentaneo rientro in Italia, nel 1924 rientra definitivamente negli Stati Uniti.

In 1907 he went to the United States with hundreds of other immigrants, with no knowledge of English and few money. In Italy he was a modeler of clay statues and he had little difficulty in securing a position as peddler of these for a more successful compatriot who made them in a little store on the Bowery. For three years hawked about the streets selling statues. At home he consoled himself by singing Italian songs and soon became a local celebrity and was in great demand for wedding feasts and other functions among the East Side Italians. He tried to get a hearing but managers not take him seriuosly. Finally he was discovered by a well-known clubman singing that went to a manager of a five-cent vaudeville theater on Christy street who let him go on amateur night before an audience that could be hostile and friendly, equally demonstrative in both their likes and dislikes. Nesi sang and the audience proclaimed its delight. The manager hired him on the spot. Few day later by the breaking down of his machine, a well-known vaudeville managed chanced to be in front of the moving picture house and heard the a beautiful voice. He entered the auditorium and was so impressed by his voice that he booked him for his entire circuit. He returned to Italy where he studied with Colli and debuted in 1915 at Verdi of Bologna in Faust. In 1917, concluded the tour in South America, he moved to the United States where resumed his career in Vaudeville. After a momentary return to Italy in 1924 he settled in the United States.
